Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season proved no match against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the appeals.

The formerArsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
